About AlwaysSababa
AlwaysSababa began as a T-Shirt. Somewhat of a backwards way to begin life, but there you go. Back in 2006, Noé Martinez, a 16 year old freshman at Washington State University, created a T-shirt to sell to his friends in the Jewish students' group. The shirt was black and had a Latin-flavored graffiti style logo that said "Always" in English and "Sababa" (סבבה) in Hebrew. His mom, Lisha Sterling, fronted the money for his little shirt making venture, and got a few shirts out of the deal for herself and some friends.
Thing is, Lisha liked the T-shirt so much that she just couldn't leave it at that. She asked permission to steal the term and make a Website out of it. Noé being a pretty awesome son, said that would be fine. The two of them decided that the best use of the domain name would be creative projects by members of the family. So, Lisha put up a Drupal content management system, and started posting her poetry and fiction to the site. Hopefully, Noé will share some of his awesome slam here, too, or perhaps he'll post a bit of his music for your enjoyment.
Oh, and in case you are wondering, the word "Sababa" is Hebrew slang -- actually a borrowing from Arabic -- which can be translated to "Awesome".
