Rose Colored Glasses

Georgie was feeling lonely and sad. It was a Tuesday. There was nothing to look forward to in the near term future, just more work and more loneliness. The weekend was a long way off, and even when it did arrive, it didn't hold much promise. The college kids that hang out at the local clubs were all way too young for him. The ones who weren't too young were already taken. He didn't have a lot of friends. Well, really, he didn't have any friends around here, and there was no way he'd be able to go home to see his real friends any time soon.

My San Francisco

I parked the car on 32nd Avenue between Clement and Geary, very near the apartment building where I grew up. It had been years since the last time I'd visited this neighborhood, but I wouldn't feel like I'd shown my friend around the City if we didn't come here. Coit Tower is nice. The Golden Gate Bridge is fun to walk across. We'd do that stuff later. First, we had to see my San Francisco.

A Conversation With God

“This too shall pass.”

“How do you know?”

“Because everything changes.”

“But when?”

“I don't know.”

“What do you mean you don't know? Aren't you omniscient?”

“Well, yes and no. It's kind of complicated.”

“What's complicated? The fact that you don't know everything?”

“Well, of course I know everything, I'm God, but I don't know everything right this moment because I'm talking to you. I told you, it's complicated.”

“Are you trying to say that talking to me makes you stupid?”

“Hmmm... perhaps.”

“Perhaps?! That's a cop out.”

Interrogation

Private First Class Dennis Tripp couldn't remember how he had gotten strapped to the bed he was in at the moment. His body was riddled with pain, but he couldn't remember getting hurt. He tried to move his head, but it was too heavy. He could barely get a glimpse of what looked like a hospital room, an IV stand with a tube coming down towards his arm, and a few people. How many had he seen? He'd just seen them, but he'd already forgotten if he'd counted them at all.
